You likely have heard the day after Thanksgiving referred to as “Black Friday.” Many stores give steep discounts to customers who are shopping for the holidays – you may have even participated in Black Friday yourself!
However, what you may not have heard about is the significance of the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. In 2012, two organizations came together and decided to dedicate a day to giving back to help remind everyone what the season is truly about: they dubbed the day “Giving Tuesday.” Six years later, many organizations opt out of Black Friday and choose to participate in Giving Tuesday instead. And we’re proud to be part of this group as we once again participate in this movement.
Giving back has always been important to us. This year, we decided to grow the tradition of giving and extend our promotion to be a full week: A Week of Giving and Thanks. Our goal is to partner with a local Napa Valley non-profit and donate $500 to their cause – with the hope to double that amount!
This year, we partnered with Friends of the Napa River. Their mission is to act as “the community’s voice for the protection, restoration, responsible development, and celebration of the Napa River and its watershed through education and advocacy.”
As you probably already know, RiverPointe sits along the Napa River. Owners and guests love taking long strolls down the river walk in the morning, listening to the flowing water, and looking for critters that inhabit the area! As soon as we learned about Friends of the Napa River, we knew that we wanted to support their mission.
