Scenic Sunday Drives: Short on Length, Long on Leisure

Tree-lined highway

If you’re eager to hit the road again but want to hold off on a long trip that requires lots of advance planning, then scenic Sunday drives are the perfect in-between solution.

Check out these shorter stretches of road that offer all the amazing scenery without any of the commitment.

Just hop in and cruise for the day!

Cruisin’ Through California Wine Country: Napa Valley
Distance: 28 miles one way

Wind your way through hidden gem rustic wineries, sweeping lake views, and endless scenery on this curvy Napa mountain road adventure.

The Route:

Start your journey at Conn Creek Winery on the Silverado Trail, then wind your way along Highway 128 up to sparkling Lake Berryessa.

Along the Way:

Conn Creek Winery: Become “winemaker for a day” by making an appointment for Conn Creek’s internationally-acclaimed Barrel Blending Experience in which you make your own blend to bottle and take home.

Turtle Rock Bar & Café: Although you may not think of dive bars when you think of Napa, this tiny watering hole is popular among visitors heading for Lake Berryessa. Leave your mark by hanging a signed dollar bill from the ceiling.

Lake Berryessa: Cap off your road trip with a hike, kayak, stand up paddle boarding, or just relaxing at beautiful Lake Berryessa, the largest lake in Napa County at 23 miles long.

Picnic Spot:

Make a pit stop at Nichelini Family Winery, one of the oldest family-owned wineries in Napa, for a picnic and lively game of bocce ball before being on your way.

After all the fun out on the open road, unwind at RiverPoint Napa Valley to sip your custom-blended wine and dine al fresco on a private patio just minutes away from downtown Napa.
